Two Steps Forward grants middle and secondary school scholarships to young adults caught up in the chaos of civil war. We are focusing on the young Liberians who are housed in the Buduburam refugee camp located just north of Accra, the capital of Ghana. While most people suffer in the camp without electricity or drinking water, these young people have the additional burden of being labeled "unaccompanied". They are either orphans or separated, perhaps permanently, from their parents. They cannot afford the fees charged in the Ghanaian school system and have been waiting patiently, sometimes for years, to return to their studies.
